Cognitive Behavioral

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a widely used practice guided by research to treat mental health issues. CBT therapists focus on maladaptive thinking that leads to certain behavior and feelings. The goal of CBT is to identify behaviors that may be in excess or deficit and examine thought distortions that surround these behaviors.

I offer a warm and safe place to engage in cognitive behavioral therapy. I have clinically assessed and treated a large number of people. Treatment options and length vary as personal goals and presentations vary. I draw from multiple evidenced based treatment techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy to create a multi-dimensioned plan that fits your goals. I am aware of the special challenges that different social, occupational, family, and cultural contexts can bring.

It is very important to not self-diagnosis.  With so much information available to us on the Internet today this can be tempting, but the attention of a mental health professional may add clarity to your experience. Talk therapy is very effective at working with a variety of issues.

Because of the wide variety of reactions, and the complexities and subtleties of professional diagnosis and treatment, feel free to call me to discuss further. I am experienced and trained in a variety of treatment and assessment methods.  Contact a licensed mental health professional or your family doctor if you have concerns.
